UPVC-Roofline-(2) UPVC-Roofline-(1)Fascias and soffits protect your roof.

Commonly known as the “roofline” by many, fascias and soffits are an important but often overlooked part of the roof. It’s easy for your eyes to skip over this part of your roof. When the fascias and soffits are working as they should, there’s nothing to notice. People can sometimes forget that they’re an important factor in protecting your home from the elements. In fact, you wouldn’t be alone in not knowing what exactly “fascias” and “soffits” are. Fortunately, it’s not too complicated.

When you look up at your roofline, you can see a long straight board fixed to the structure of the roof. That’s the fascia. It supports the weight of your roof in addition to the guttering. The board that runs under the fascia and forms the bottom of the roofline is the soffit. Together, they keep the elements from penetrating the interior structure of your roof and damaging it.

It’s due to the constant exposure to the elements that you need to keep an eye out for potential problems.

While aesthetic appeal doesn’t count as a serious issue, it’s still something worth considering. Prolonged exposure to changing seasons and the general passage of time will lead the paint of your fascias and soffits to peel and flake, and eventually cause minor structural issues.

More serious and urgent problems are rot and damp. Bad weather can cause these issues to develop and if they’re left to get worse can lead to serious structural issues in the roof itself.

There’s plenty of options when it comes to replacing fascias and soffits.

We can supply and install uPVC fascias and soffits. uPVC is a high-quality material and a great choice for fascias and soffits: it’s resistant to temperature extremes and can stand up well against the elements. And importantly it’s less susceptible to damp or rot. uPVC is available in a wide range of finishes – it’s not just plain white plastic. You can choose wood finishes such as rosewood or oak.
